ONIBUS COFFEE 台中店

スペシャルティコーヒーを提供するコーヒーショップONIBUS COFFEEの台湾2号店となる台中店を手掛けた。商業・文化施設が多くある華やかなエリアの緑道沿いが敷地となった。コーヒーづくりに欠かせない土は、鉱物の他、様々な微生物を含有し、それらの相互関係で成り立っている。多様性と融合を尊重するONIBUS COFFEEの哲学に通じつつ、環境循環というサスティナブルな象徴として、土と共存する店舗を計画した。

台湾地場の赤土の仕上げを３次曲面の壁や天井に施した大きな塊を中心に、その周囲に人々の居場所をつくり出すレイアウトとした。土を掘り込んだようなバリスタカウンターは、上部が客席側にはね出すことで、その下に人々が集い、コーヒーを介したスタッフとのコミュニケーションの場となる。また、カウンターは島状に分割して配置することで、スタッフそれぞれに居場所をつくり、客とのコミュニケーションを円滑にしている。
客席は、土の塊を囲うように配置し、高い天井のオフホワイトの空間とすることで、明るく開放的で、心地の良い居場所をつくりだした。客席中央や大きな窓の前には、特徴的な白い筒状のペンダントライトを配置し、柔らかい光のオブジェの下に、くつろぐことができるテーブル席を設けている。

台中の緑豊かで、文化的な場所において、コーヒーづくりの要となる土でできた、自然を感じられる温かみのある店舗を目指した。

ONIBUS COFFEE Taichung

We designed the interior for ONIBUS COFFEE, which offers specialty coffee, and opened its second store in Taichung, Taiwan. The site is located along the greenway in a bustling area with many shopping and cultural facilities. Soil, which is essential for coffee bean cultivation, involves a rich interaction between minerals and various microbes. This is in line with ONIBUS COFFEE’s philosophy, which respects diversity and integration. The way it functions as a symbol of sustainability and environmental circulation can be found in the shop’s design, where people coexist with the soil.

We designed the layout to feature areas around a large mass with 3D curved walls and a ceiling finished with local Taiwanese red clay. The barista counter has the appearance of being dug out of soil, and, protruding over the seating area, it creates space for people to gather and communicate with staff. The counters are arranged in an island-like configuration, creating areas for the staff to promote seamless customer communication. The seating area is an off-white space located around the soil mass with higher ceilings, providing a bright and open atmosphere with relaxing vibes. Distinctive cylindrical white pendant lights provide soft lighting in the center of the seating area and in front of large windows, with cozy seating under the soft light objects.

We aimed to create a shop with the warmth of nature, finished with soil, the essentials for coffee cultivation within this area of greenery, located in a cultural spot in Taichung.
